The song “Devet lisicheta”, with music and arrangement by Zhivko Vasilev and lyrics by Lilyana Stefanova, is a children’s song No. 1 in the national competition for children’s, entertaining songs with a folklore basis – “Song from the Spring”. Its seven-year-old performer, Zheni Krincheva, took first place in the “Performer” category.

“Devet lisicheta” is the song that won first place in the “New pop arrangement of a Bulgarian folklore song” category in the national competition “Song from the Spring”.

The song is entirely original and the folklore motifs contained in its music and lyrics are one of the main reasons why it conquered all members of the jury of the competition and beat the competition in its category. The song skillfully combines the folk instruments kaval and tampan with the modern pop music guitar and bass guitar, streih, percussion, piano and many synthetic sounds.

And the talent, confidence, artistry and smile of seven-year-old Zheni Krincheva, in addition to this one, brought the team another first prize – first place in the “Performer” category.

The “Song from the Spring” competition was held on 22.04.2017 in the city of Stara Zagora, and its organizers are the Municipality of Stara Zagora and the “St. Kliment Ohridski” National Theatre. All members of the jury were impressed by the song and the performance, including the composer Kiril Todorov, the Conductor of the Stara Zagora State Opera – Konstantin Kashev and the winner of last year’s edition of the competition – Kamelia Petrova. The jury was chaired by Mrs. Maya Raykova (producer of Jazz, Pop and Rock Music at the Bulgarian National Radio), who presented the two awards to the performer Zheni Krincheva.

The producer of “Devet lisicheta”, Tedi Videnova, shared that this is just the beginning of a series of performances that together with Zheni they are preparing to present the song in the most famous song and young artist competitions in Bulgaria. The first two awards are available, and we wish them success in winning the next ones!
