The perfect first kaval, available in two materials: high-quality PVC and durable aluminum, both offered in D, C, Bb and A. Both are affordable, tough and forgiving, which makes them ideal for beginners, for travel and for playing outdoors, yet capable enough that advanced players enjoy them too.

The finger holes are exactly the same as on my professional kavals, so everything you learn carries straight over. The bore is a pipe with a uniform inner diameter, and both materials are completely waterproof and need almost no maintenance.

Choosing your key

• D - the easiest to start on, the most common key, and the one all my lessons and materials are built around. My recommendation for beginners.
• C - slightly lower, and it blends beautifully with the human voice; traditionally the key used to accompany folk singers.
• Bb - deep and rich, but a little harder to play: it is longer, so the finger holes are spaced wider apart.
• A - the lowest and warmest, a semitone below Bb: it's longer still, so the last finger hole is offset slightly to the side, keeping it comfortable to reach. Made to order.

About the A key: the A kaval is pitched a semitone below the Bb. It uses a longer tube and more material, which is why it costs more. It is kept in stock like every other Intro key.
